David Lee has offered dynamic and resilient representation to the people of Pointe a Pierre for the last five years having been elected in 2015. In the last five years, he has fought inside and outside of the Parliament for better roads, community development and standard of living for the people of Pointe a Pierre.
In the last five years besides fighting for the people of Pointe a Pierre, David Lee has offered yeoman service to the United National Congress serving as its Chairman from 2015 to 2017 and then its Deputy Political Leader from 2017 to present. Qualified in Finance and Accounting, the St. Mary’s Old boy spent over 15 years at the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago and subsequently served as the CEO of a large shipping Conglomerate.
In the last five years, MP Lee has truly given a voice to his constituents of Pointe a Pierre within the Parliament as he has served as the Opposition Chief Whip, served as a member of the Joint Select Committees on Insurance, Energy Affairs, Private Security and the House Committee. In these five years he has consistently fought for improvements to schools, roads, drains and community infrastructure to better the lives of the people of Pointe a Pierre.
Dr. Lee’s service to Trinidad and Tobago exceeds his tenure as a Member of Parliament as between the period 2010 to 2015 he served as the Chairman of the MIC Institute of Technology, playing a key role in expanding the technical and vocational skills training across Trinidad and Tobago. With a vision and passion for making a difference in the lives of young people Dr. Lee ensured that MIC programmes were accessible to all and under his guidance the MIC has opened four new centres in Tobago, O’Meara, Penal and Diego Martin.
As the Member of Parliament for Pointe a Pierre, he kept to this same level of innovation and people-centred development as his signature programs such as the “Backpack for Hope” has outfitted hundreds of children with the tools necessary to obtain an education.
Other programs such as his “Annual Mothers Appreciation” and support for various religious festival has gone a long way to develop the cultural and social development of the constituency.
David Lee is returning for a second term to ensure the true potential of the people of Pointe a Pierre is released.
