OVER 100 UNC Youth Rally Behind Youth Arm
Over one hundred UNC Youth officers spanning the length and width of Trinidad and Tobago flocked to the Couva South MP’s office auditorium on Saturday 12th April 2014, for their monthly strategic meeting. The theme of the meeting, “Finding the Place, Plan & Purpose for our Youth” was aimed at developing strategy for the upcoming months, especially in the build up to the 2015 General Elections.
Led by UNC Youth Arm chairman Mr.Nicholas Morris, the gathering solely comprised of youth officers from each constituency executive, party groups and a number of youth group stakeholders who have joined the UNCYA cause over the past year.
Addressing, the head table of UNC Campaign Manager Mr. Rodney Charles -former national ambassador to the United Nations, Mr.Jagdeo Singh -a prominent Attorney at Law and well known party supporter, as well as Mr. Steve Arman former General Secretary and current Advisor to Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training Fazal Karim,
Morris articulated the desire to have youth involvement in the campaign, having already begun the foundation work for such establishment in the 2015 elections by outlining the tremendous amount of work the UNCYA had accomplished over the past few months. Further to this, each of the youth officers representing their 10 men youth executives and general memberships of 100 + youth in their constituencies, were each allowed a chance to explain their individual ideas, barriers and requirements as the youth of the UNC charted the course for their involvement in the much deserved ‘five more years’ campaign.
Coming out of the meeting, it was agreed both by members of the head table, and the audience alike, that the UNC Youth were indeed an asset to the party and can bring or will continue to bring the verve and vivaciousness needed in the campaign for 2015 and beyond. Under the Leadership of Nicholas Morris, the UNC Youth Arm has proven their merit as the most efficient and effective Youth Group in Trinidad and Tobago through their hard work. From the beginning of 2014 to as recently as Sunday 13th April, 2014 – every weekend for the year thus far, the UNC Youth Arm has visited areas across Trinidad from Cumuto/Manzanilla to Palmiste conducting programmes such as their “live yuh Life” health initiative, Bridging the Digital Divide Computer Program, Football League, Connect 41: Community Outreach and even threw a very well attended (800 guests) carnival party.
Look out for the UNC Youth Arm as we will definitely be coming to your area very soon!
