MP Bodoe Calls for Urgent Restoration of Siparia Union Presbyterian School
The MP for Fyzabad, Dr Lackram Bodoe regrets the occurrence of the electrical fire that gutted the temporary wing that accommodated the four Standard Five classes at the Siparia Union Presbyterian School.
As it stands now over 350 pupils are being deprived of their fundamental right to quality and continuous education because the current Government refused to complete the new structure. It is almost 90% complete and could have served as an alternative accommodation had not cheap partisan politics stopped construction and payment to the contractors.
These pupils are facing an SEA Examination early next year. The fiscal allocation of the highest budgetary sum to Education is not enough. Administrative capability and care of the young must be demonstrated by officials of the Ministry of Education in addressing the valid concerns of the demonstrating parents and pupils in a achieving a quick restoration of schooling for pupils at Siparia Union Presbyterian.
I support the vigilance of parents and the activism of the PTA in their representation to the Ministry that their children must not suffer from the display of cheap and immature politics as this becomes the contents of their book bags and a sordid part of their education legacy.
I call upon the Minister of Education to take politics out of education and training. I ask him to complete the Siparia Union Presbyterian School in the shortest possible time so as to enable these young citizens the opportunity to realise their full potential in education. This can only redound to the benefit of Trinidad and Tobago.
