Minister Roopnarine rewards students
On Thursday 11th July 2013, Member of Parliament for Oropouche West and Minister of State in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, the Hon Stacy Roopnarine rewarded 10 students from schools within the constituency of Oropouche West for placing in the top 200 in the recent SEA exam.
Among those students rewarded was Kay-lynn Ramlal from the Tulsa Trace Hindu School who placed 2nd overall in the country. Kay-lynn received from her MP a book voucher valued at $1000, plus a cash prize of $2,000 and a trophy for outstanding performance. The other 9 students all received book vouchers valued at $1000 as well as trophies.
MP Roopnarine indicated to the students how proud she was of their achievements and encouraged them to always work hard to achieve their goals. She said that it was important for leaders to continue to recognize and reward children when they do well, so that they would continue to be motivated and encouraged to succeed. She also indicated that this was why every year before the SEA exam she visits all 11 Primary schools in her constituency. She applauded the Principals and teachers and parents who worked hard with their children to ensure success, and wished them continued success in their future endeavors.
