Message from the Leader of the Opposition to S.E.A Students, Parents and Guardians
In this the final approach to preparations for the Secondary Entrance Assessment examination tomorrow, I send my heartfelt best wishes to primary school students and the parents and guardians who worked with them, coached them and will no doubt share the relief when it is all over.
To the boys and girls who will sit the SEA on Thursday, I want to especially congratulate you on courageously taking on challenges and arriving at this point, prepared and ready.
You will no doubt receive many bits of wisdom and advice from parents, family and teachers on how to prepare, stay calm, remain focused and concentrate on the task you face.
I would also want to add one thing that has worked for me in my life in education, and indeed for my family and extended family. Say your prayers, thank God for bringing you this far and ask for guidance to keep you focused. Make a commitment that you will keep both feet on the ground, concentrate and do the best that you can do.
Do not doubt yourselves, or worry, or be afraid that there is something more that you could have done. Whatever the setbacks and challenges you faced, you have come this far and you have put your all into making your parents, teachers and yourselves proud.
The Teachers in our Primary School system are some of our most committed citizens, who dedicated their lives to guiding children and young people.
I share your parents’ confidence that as you have done your best, so too have your Teachers.
Tomorrow, when you take your seat for the SEA examination, clear your mind and say to yourself: “I have worked hard, and I am ready for this.”
The SEA examination is one of the most important landmark achievements you will enjoy as it signals the start of an exciting phase in your social, academic and family lives.
I wish you God’s guidance and congratulate you once again on your discipline, dedication and commitment. Go into that examination tomorrow with confidence and you will achieve the success for your hard work.
