Laventille at peace
In this season of Constitutional Reform overload, I am elated to inform the national community on the positive changes occurring in my community. When the joint soldier-police patrols started about two months ago, it was widely criticised by the Opposition and those opposed to the government. However, it is proving to be a master stoke in policy design, helping to make Laventille safe once again. Evidence of this is the Beverly Hills vacation camp for children. Residents claim that because of the joint patrols, they feel it is now safe to enjoy activities in their community without fear of interference from the criminal element. Having the army contribute to the camp is also a great idea, as it would work to create a sense of trust between the residents and the members of the joint patrols. What a great idea and achievement!
I thank the government for having the fortitude to implement this plan. I look forward to the day when Laventille can breathe freely once again and reach its true potential.
