“Keith Rowley not ready to lead” says Rodney Charles
Today in Port of Spain the people of Trinidad and Tobago saw further proof that “Keith Rowley is not ready to lead,” said UNC Campaign Manager Rodney Charles.
Speaking at the Queen’s Park Savannah, in front of a crowd that was much smaller than he predicted, Keith Rowley failed to articulate any new ideas to improve the lives of the citizens of T&T. One of the notable absentees was former Prime Minister, Patrick Manning.
“Given yet another opportunity to explain why he deserves to be elected in 2015, Keith Rowley offered only a rehashed version of the platform that voters roundly rejected in 2010,” commented Charles.
Charles called on Rowley to defend the fabrications and misinformation he pedaled in his speech this afternoon, citing his false statements on the incidents of major crime in the years of his time in government versus the current government.
“Keith Rowley should know, as we all do, that the number of murders when his party left office in 2010 exceeded 500 annually. In 2008 it was 550 and one year later it was 509. Today there are under 370 murders.”
Citing Rowley’s plans to engage in government austerity Charles also called on Rowley to disclose what services he will cut if elected.
“What will Keith Rowley cut? He has called for a decrease in government expenditures; does this mean he wants to hire fewer nurses? Does he want to fire teachers? What front line services will he be cutting?”
In summarizing today’s sparsely attended convention Charles added, “Keith Rowley continues to condescend to the people of Trinidad and Tobago. Rowley speaks only of his own greatness and how the PNM will prevail. We believe that the people of Trinidad and Tobago must prevail.”
“Kamla Persad-Bissessar continues to show in her words and in her actions that her first and only priority is to continue to improve the lives of all of our citizens. We challenge Keith Rowley to demonstrate the same. He may have fooled some of the people at the Savannah today, but the people of our nation know better.”
