Kamla on Budget Date Announcement: Expect a Budget of Excuses
Leader of the Opposition Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP does not expect much from the Government in the National Budget 2017/2018.
The Opposition Leader issued the following statement:
They will say things are hard, without saying how they intend to make things better. They will say they have no money, yet because of their incompetence and lack of a plan, they will have to admit that much of the money allocated in the last year was not used and was returned to the Ministry of Finance. The budget will blame public servants and boards for their lack of delivery.
Expect a budget of excuses – a budget that does nothing for the people, a budget without a plan.
To date we have heard no plans, proposals or programmes that will put the economy back on a growth path, generate revenue, or create sustainable jobs.
The country is reeling from this Government’s inability to manage the country’s affairs. We expect that citizens will face further hardships from this budget.
With the incompetence displayed so far by the Rowley administration, I must say that I have little faith is this budget being any better.
