Kamla offers condolences to family of Dr. Morgan Job
I join with the national community in mourning the loss of Dr. Morgan Job, economist, writer, radio personality and former Member of Parliament.
Dr. Job made an indelible contribution to the fields of politics and culture and was a well-known advocate for equality.
He was unreserved in expressing his views on the political landscape and in some cases, politicians came in for harsh criticism, but his intentions were always to lift the level of debate and discourse on national issues.
Dr. Job entered Parliament in May of 1997 as the Member for Tobago East, and served as Minister of Tobago Affairs, and later as Minister in the Ministry of Finance. He also acted in several ministerial capacities including Minister of National Security.
I was saddened to learn of his passing, after battling pancreatic cancer.
Trinidad and Tobago has lost a brilliant mind, and a voice in the fight for equal rights.
Let us all remember his words in a recent interview, “I have dedicated my life to doing the best for people of Trinidad and Tobago and I’ve always maintained, put God in everything, not race.” We can all follow in his stead, and dedicate ourselves to doing the best we can for our beloved nation.
On behalf of the Opposition and on my own behalf, I offer condolences to his family and friends.
May his soul rest in peace.
Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP
Leader of the Opposition
