KAMLA congratulates MADURO
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar congratulates President-Elect Nicolás Maduro Moros
Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has congratulated President-Elect His ExcellencyNicolás Maduro Moros on his assumption of the Presidency of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
In her statement the Prime Minister extended congratulations on behalf of the people of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. She said, “Mr. Maduro’s victory is evident of the confidence the Venezuelan people have reposed in his published commitment to building on the legacy of the late President Hugo Chavez, whose vision was for the creation and consolidation of a strong Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC)”.
The Prime Minister said that ties which bind both countries have intensified and now extend to areas of critical importance to the development of both countries: “My Government therefore looks forward to working closely with you in pursuit of mutually agreed goals as we celebrate this year, the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations.”
The Prime Minister extended sincere wishes for the success of the new administration and for the personal well-being of Mr. Maduro’s family and the people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
The Prime Minister is currently in the United States where she delivered an address at the United Nations today and will attend the OAS Meeting in Washington, D.C. this week before returning home on Saturday 10th April, 2013.
