Have a heart Dr Rowley
Dear Editor,
Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley recently said that the government was playing politics with crime by seeking to return the controversial “Hanging Bill” in an election year. Why would Dr Rowley try to mislead the public? Didn’t the government bring this said legislation for debate in 2011? It is not the first time it has been tabled in parliament. If it was successfully amended, then would Dr Rowley make that comment today? I’m thrilled to see the the government is actually trying to make a difference by working to amend an old law that has too many loopholes in favour of the criminal element.
I am hoping that a letter sent to him by Attorney General asking the Opposition to state proposals that would allow the passage of legislation to ensure the death penalty is carried out be acknowledged and something actually done. It will be the nail in Dr Rowley’s political coffin if he fails the population this time around. Legislators have the power to adjust the law with the support of everyone to get the right laws and amendments in place.
We are tired of the crime and urge Dr Rowley to put his ideas forward and difference aside for once for the sake of the people. Only then he will prove that he is can be a true leader and has the best interest at heart for all.
Every day we are reading about the gruesome murders taking place in this country. It’s only when it hits home people cry out for something to be done. Have a heart Dr Rowley.
We must thank Mr Ramlogan for his continual efforts to see justice happen in T&T.
