Dr. Khan calls on Minister to investigate Delay of Pension Cheques
Saturday 3rd October 2015
Statement by the Member of Parliament for Barataria/San Juan, Hon. Dr. Fuad Khan, on the Delay in the Delivery of Cheques to our Old Aged Pensioners
It has been brought to my attention that many persons throughout the country have not as yet received their Old Aged Pension cheques for October 2015 as of the time that I am writing this letter. I am therefore calling on the Minister of Social Development and Family Services, Hon. Cherrie-Ann Crichlow-Cockburn to investigate and rectify this problem immediately for the comfort and relief of our retired citizens.
Our senior citizens have always been, and continue to be, a pillar on which our society is built, as we cherish and respect the effort and hard-work they put into developing our nation into what is has become today. Each and every one of them would have contributed towards our heritage and sustainability, and their pension reflects the gratitude and honor that we still hold for them. So to deprive them of this tribute past their due date is almost ungrateful to their sacrifice.
While I do not believe this to be a deliberate act of sabotage by anyone in the distribution chain, steps still need to be taken to find and solve this problem in the shortest possible time. For we should be as devoted to serving them in their retirement years, as they were to building this nation for us all.
Thank you.
Dr. Fuad Khan
