Delusional ramblings!
Dear Editor:
Wayne Kublalsingh has a knack for taking earth shaking, transformational events and trivializing them. Firstly, he was being compared to Mahatma Ghandi. I cannot recall Ghandi ever losing his cool and cursing loudly at anybody, telling a Minister to take his ambulance and leave in the most disrespectful manner ever. I cannot recall Ghandi ever being an obtuse negotiator, whose strategy involved constantly changing the rules of the game, all this being done to frustrate the will of the majority.
I have looked on silently, even though I support the building of the highway. I felt a sense of pity for the man, who was will to make a sacrifice for what he believed in. However, with his latest utterance, I have lost any remaining goodwill towards him and his supporters. He had the temerity to utter the following words, “the Government has attempted to make us into the Jews of Nazi Germany; select persons, unbecoming of the dignity of their party, have acted as storm-troopers to harass, demoralize and denigrate.”
How could Kublalsingh ever have the dignity to utter these words, to compare his struggle to that of the worst event of the 20th century? He is definitely delusional, overstating his importance. This is what Kublalsingh is comparing his struggle to. Between 1941 and 1945, Jews were targeted and methodically murdered in the largest genocide of the 20th century. This genocide was part of a broader aggregate of acts of oppression and killings of various ethnic and political groups in Europe by the Nazis. Every arm of Germany’s bureaucracy was involved in the logistics of the genocides, turning the Third Reich into “a genocidal state”. In total, approximately 11 million people were killed, including one million Jewish children alone. Of the nine million Jews who had resided in Europe before the Holocaust, approximately two-thirds were killed. A network of about 42,500 facilities in Germany and German-occupied territories were used to concentrate, confine, and kill Jews and other victims and between 100,000 to 500,000 people were direct participants in the planning and execution of the Holocaust.
It is beyond belief that Kublalsingh could make this link. This highway is supported by the majority of residents from the area. He has definitely overstepped the boundaries of his relevance. He needs to end this farcical fast now and recoup any little credibility he has left.
