Four persons were shot in a drive-by shooting around 10:30pm last night in the Wyaby community of Couva North. One person by the name of Kit Boyce died as a result of the injuries he sustained, one is in critical condition and the other two have been hospitalized and are being treated for their gunshot wounds.
In light of this recent shooting in the ‘hotspot’ Wyaby area, We are yet again pleading with the Minister of National Security for joint police/army patrols in all such crime prone areas in Central. The residents of Central Trinidad are calling for joint forces to be stationed at these dangerous locations on 24 hour foot patrols.
I also want to renew the call for an urgent meeting with the Minister and his team with all Central MPs to discuss the central crime situation.
The Prime Minister and the three Ministers of National Security must take this crime scourge in Central seriously and stop misleading the public and the Parliament on their absent crime fighting initiatives.
Two weeks ago the Prime Minister got up and provided a patently facetious and misleading response to a question I posed to him as to whether or not there were joint police/army patrols in Central. He responded by identifying all the street names and communities as having a presence of the joint forces. He thereby deceived the parliament and the public. This further shows that this government is not serious about fighting crime and has no clue as to what needs to be done to alleviate this grim crime situation.
