Caroni East Executive and Women’s Arm Condemn Dr. Keith Rowley’s Vulgar Statements
The Caroni East Constituency Executive and the Caroni East Women’s Arm condemn in the strongest possible manner the foul-mouthed, mysogynistic utterances of Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley, emanating from — of all places — the Diplomatic Center. More undiplomatic language could not ever have been used by a Head of Government.
Dr. Rowley has an unfortunate history of making the crudest statements and the wildest accusations in the most reckless, disrespectful and divisive manner possible.
Dr. Rowley reached a new low in the history of the Commonwealth when he abused the sacred right of Parliamentary Privilege to accuse then-sitting Prime Minister Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar and others, including the current Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gary Griffith, of conspiracy to murder a journalist.
This was so outrageous and patently untrue that Dr. Rowley himself did not believe it, or else he would have done everything in his power to save the life of the falsely alleged threatened journalist and to make a report to the police as soon as possible.
It is this type of repugnant politicking that Dr. Rowley espouses, and it is sad to see some of his party members following suit. This is a betrayal of the high standards of discourse set by the founder of the PNM, who must be rolling in his grave at the state in which his party now finds itself, under the internationally embarrassing leadership of Dr. Keith Christopher Rowley.
Dr. Rowley is destroying political discourse in Trinidad and Tobago, insulting and degrading women, lashing out recklessly at foreign governments including our most important allies, the United States and Great Britain, and generally behaving in the words of his former leader, like a Raging Bull and Wajang.
We call on the entire country, including the PNM Women’s Arm, to join with us in condemning Dr. Rowley for his damaging, reckless, statements.
Further, we urge Prime Minister Rowley to seek urgent treatment to help him deal with his insecurities and to put a stop to his helpless tendency to shame women with ill-advised incessant disrespectful utterances.
Enough is enough and we call on our sistrens from the PNM and within the ranks of the government to educate their Leader and hold him to a higher standard of behaviour towards women.
Dr. Rishad Seecheran
