Political Analyst, Dr. Indira Rampersad, has backed Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s decision to wait for official word before acting on allegations that Minister of National Security Jack Warner is under investigation by the FBI.
Speaking on CTV’s First Up Programme on Tuesday, she said: “We don’t know the facts. I am still in the dark about what is happening, the Prime Minister claims that she doesn’t know herself and the Attorney General has attempted to get information. That information has not been forthcoming.”
Dr. Rampersad said the nation and the news media should take a page out of the Prime Minister’s book and respect due process.
“So what are we basing these allegations on? We have to be careful of jumping on that bandwagon of the court of public opinion because there is a legal system, there is a domestic legal system and there is an international legal system which are there to deal with these kinds of issues and I would like to see that the due process is followed.”
